I think the biggest potential source of revenue for many web sites, and the one many sites are making alot of bank off, is information. Just think how much information Twitter can glean on a person, by analyzing the info they provide, analyzing their tweets, their followers, who they follow, who they talk to, what their followers say.

The information they glean from that is the same kind of information marketing and advertising companies, and political campaigns pay big money for.
