I am looking forward to purchase a laptop for my IM needs but right now I am tight in budget so cannot spend much.

I want to ask that is Dell mini or HP mini are enough for IMing needs like running SEnuke x / sometimes scrapebox etc ?

    Suggestions are welcome.

I dont think that netbooks would fit your needs.
I had a msi wind u100 and it was a 10". I had hard time on the screen resolution because it was very small. i think that scrapebox wouldn't fit on a 10" netbook or laptop.

I suggest you to buy a minimum of 13" laptop.

PS i moved to 15" Dell inspirion and it fits my IM needs

Netbook is fine for IM. I had a good experience with Dell mini. I don't know about HP netbooks. :)

Well you can do all the basic stuffs that an internet marketer does, but when it comes to scaling up your things these mini laptops won't help.
For example if you make websites and rank them on Google by white hat techniques, you can do that quite well with your mini ones also. Now when it comes to scaling up things where you need to run software's like scrapbox etc. then you would need VPS.

I would suggest you to go for mini one if you are not into bigger things, make some money then you can always buy expensive machines ;)

I moved to netbook around 6 months ago (from a quadcore beast).
The biggest thing that you'll notice is the core speed. I upgraded mine to 4gig ram, but the core speed can still be annoying from time to time. To help with that though, just install Ubuntu ;)

If your able to, then I would try and replicate my setup... Have an external monitor of 20"+ and have that as your main monitor, and then a bluetooth mouse (most netbooks have built in bluetooth which saves you from needing a usb doggle).
From there, your netbook just becomes a second monitor and a keyboard.

The main benefit that I get from the setup is the ease of taking it with me. I travel and love to work outside, so being able to have protability was a big factor.

In regards to scrapebox and those types of programs, those should run on a VPS. Safer and the connection speed will make a huge difference.

All in all though, it depends on your work environment. A netbook as a main computer isn't for everyone. If your only looking at buying one as it's less expensive, then I would advise you to just stay with your current setup until your able to purchase the setup you desire.

I don't know about mini, but i use "Dell inspirion" for more than a year now, and it's really working great, and I'm running SEnuke x, winautomation, and other programs almost 16h/day.

Thanks guys, I am also thinking about attaching a monitor to a netbook when needed... Anyone using SEnuke X or Scrapebox in a netbook ? If attached with an external monitor.

the monitor is not really important for these tools because you don't touche them when they are running
    most important is the RAM
