Deleted posts affect engagement %

Hi there!

A few days ago I noticed that one account dramatically lost engagement. Before every photo on average had ~ 13k -15K likes, and now 1k max 2k likes.

I contacted the person and asked him what happened (the first thing in the mind was of course shadowban).
The reply was just really surprising. He just removed around 100 posts from his account.

Even deleting photos from your account effect engagement. I suggest just archive posts and don't delete.

Have you experienced the same on your account?

Yes never delete any post. Just archieve it. It really affects on engagement.

Wow that's something I need to remember, i wasn't thinking that deleting posts could affects engagement

I just delete the lowest engagement posts to boost overall engagement

That makes a lot of sense, i've noticed it in the past but never really payed much attention to it or just chalked it up to being something else. Thank you for this.

I’ve definitely noticed this but I usually only delete photos if im done with an account so it hasn’t really mattered
