Deleted Domains PR Question

Hi guys, I wanted to know if deleted domains keep their PR or not after not being picked up for a month or more. I wanted to build a site onto a PR2-3 domain so I need to know this beforehand.

They keep link juice, though PR is changed sometimes to n/a. Build a new website and old PR will come back

It depends a lot on the backlink profile, which in most cases is poor an thus PR will drop.

As long as the BLs are still up, yes. I've picked up expired domains (that even dropped a few times), and the PR is there.

Thanks for the replies. I want to know if it's going to be better to work on an EMD domain, or picking up a domain with some PR2-3, for my site what are your opinions on this? I only have one competitor in Google for my niche who has a completely irrelevant domain name for that niche and still ranks for it, despite not having great back links but is PR2.

What I plan on doing is creating better content than him and more so I'm not sure if an EMD domain will be good with 0 PR or should I try and grab a high PR domain.

Don't go just for PR. Find a niche relevant aged domain that has quality backlinks.

Agreed - don't rely on PR.
Look for good backlinks. PR should indicate good backlinks but may not.
Remember PR is about what the PR was on the day of the last update. If it's lost all backlinks it will still show same PR till next update.

It come back again. Check before use it for a project the links and be sure that this links are good and compatibility with your thematic

Thanks for your insights, well I do now believe that my competitor's site actually does not have PR as it does not have quality backlinks at all. I'm thinking about buying an EMD, or an aged domain with good backlinks, which one would you guys prefer more? Do EMD's help rank the keyword better?
