Suppose you wrote a new article and you suppose this dilutes your topical authority after its negative impact on serp results. You no longer want this content be on your site. How to correctly remove it?
Do you use the "delete from search results" function? Or you just delete the page and wait while Google removes it from its index(which can take long time)? What are some side effects, if any of using that tool ? Thanks

Use the Remove URLs tool in Google Search Console. It temporarily hides the page from search results. While it's hidden, a 301 redirects the page to the relevant article or your homepage.

Use Google’s "Remove Outdated Content" tool for immediate removal from search results, and then permanently delete the page to ensure it does not reappear.

You can delete the page and use remove url tool from GSC to remove it from search results
