So, I just found out that Google deindexed around 60 pages of my 200 pages site, but I was using the Performance section and saw that some pages that are "deindexed" in the Coverage section, are getting impressions.

When I search "domain.com/page" it's not indexed, and then i do "site:domain.com" I get only 7 results..

This is the first time I see this happen as the Performance sections shows that I'm getting impressions of pages that are deindexed...

It's a domain I bought in 2014 but did nothing until recently and the 200 articles are 1-2 months old.

Very weird stuff on google nowadays...

Oh and the site has quite a few backlinks, it's a expired domain i bought years ago. DR is 24

One thing that I'm wondering is if the site gets indexed differently if the pages are actually discovered by crawling from backlinks/internal links or by submitting sitemaps to GSC.

#1 - I would check the "silly" things first. Are you checking the current time period or while they were still indexed.

#2 - What could be happening is that you are still indexed in different datacenters. Check the country source You can also try checking in .co.uk, .com.au, .ca or even foreign ones manually.

#3 - Check other search engines like News or images. These are separate indexes. You do this by using the site: query as you would normally. Then switch to News tab, then image tab etc.

That's interesting, but it shows that the impressions are for USA, so it should be for google.com.

Very weird tbh.

This is another potential Google penalty, I also noticed this recently, one of my sites also got "hit" by this, when site:yourdomain only gives 7 results, before we talked about a site: only gives 4 result penalty, and now it seems Google introduced a new penalty, and highly likely it is.

I guess its related with low quality, expired domain, PBN, etc, so I would assume this site is gonna die, no traffic from now on, or gradually lose traffic, you can monitor its traffics from now on, but I almost can sure its a penalty regard expired domain and low quality sites, autoblogs.

Report back sometimes later, we need more data.

Pretty interesting.

I'm actually getting around 60 users a month from several sources and around 10-30 a month from other search engines.

I do have an autoblog, but that is getting indexed really good lol!

This site was supposedly 100% whitehat, the one with 200 articles.

I will let this site run it's course and see how it goes.

Right now, it's getting 0-1 visitors a day from only google (or at least that's what GSC reports in Performance).

I will update this thread weekly to see how it develops over time.

I actually kept this site for some years as it has good backlinks and natural traffic (people actually search and or come to it from it's backlinks), so I thought it was a great domain.

But hopefully, it's not a penalty

What is your DA, and how long has the site been running?
(If you don't mind answering the above.)

Also, don't give up on the website. Don't trust what he says at all- he doesn't know that Google is going to hide your site, and you shouldn't drop it because of some rando post.

DR is 24 (ahrefs), DA from moz i think its 15 or so. I've had the site for years now. probably since 2014-2015 or so, with no content added until recently.

Im not giving up on this site, but if it stops getting traffic or gets deindexed completely, I'll give up.

(this is a reply to your post:)

It's good you haven't put much work into it, and it's some kind of old domain you've had stored away - or one you bought expired in auction. Yes, this way you can just drop it if the site never picks up.
It is great that you'll try however. Good luck OP

I bought it back in 2014 or 2015, but just kept renewing it in case i wanted to use it later as it has good backlinks.

We'll see if it takes off or just gets deindexed. but even if it gets deindexed, the penalty gets revoked a few years later, thats what happened with a site of mine. it got penalized and a few years later it got back to index

Before, we talked a lot about site:4 result penalty like at these threads:

https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/google-deindexing-posts-across-all-my-sites.1327114/https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/new-websites-falling-out-of-google-index.1256245/
If you read through the thread, you can find that even white hat sites got hit randomly by Google, we can almost sure its a kind of penalty (I mean 4 result), its not a glitch, usually, when a site hit by such algo, the traffic will die from Google, and won't recover no matter what you do.

Then recently, I noticed this 7 result shit, behave same pattern as 4, thus I think its a penalty, but I haven't seen anyone talk about it, only tell by my instinct. I guess Google will show 4 or 7 according different penalty algo when it caught you (again, seems white hat sometimes also got hit in a bad luck manner), but what do I know, you can give it more time and see what will happen.

Aren't you the person who made a thread claiming everyone in NYC would die last may 21st? - @terrycody

Have you checked the #3?
yes, 1 result in news and a few images in the images tab

btw guys i used Conversion.ai on my articles on this site. thats probably the reason...

Deindex is not enough. I mean a lot of ppls clicking or searching for that page will still result in impression. Make sure you delink that page, so that page is an orphan and not reachable. Better yet is use a 301 redirect, so that when ppls click on it, or typing that url in google, they get redirect to a different page. Also if it's articles that were in existence when you purchase the domain, they will still get impression if even if you delink them.

I have a website that I delete a whole bunch of DA 6 pages, I am still getting impression, and in fact google is telling me those non-existence pages are not reachable, as if google didn't even know those pages were no longer in existence!!

If it's getting too bad, you might want to do a disavowing as well, especially when those articles are not topical relevant to your current niche.

e.g. you buy a site that talks about real estate, but you intend to use that domain to sell sneakers, just as an example. It will certainly hurt your DR score, if you intend to build up your SEO for sneakers that is.

What I will do is wait 1 month, until July 1st and see how things are.

If I only see 4,7 or 8 pages indexed, I will take the 200 articles and spin them to create unique articles and then force google to recrawl the whole site and index everything again to see if it's truly the content, or google just hates my site.

Will update this thread every week to update on how google treats my site

Ever thought of it being as a result of your use of expired domain?

Maybe Google figured out.

Is it possible that you are getting visitors from other search engines except Google? It happened with one my site - although the site got de-indexed but I was still getting visitors.

It's possible, I bought it years ago and didn't do anything to it, so it's possible that's the reason.

Yeah, the visitors are mainly from other places, but GSC shows that I get 0-2 clicks a day from SERPs and the rest are from other search engines and backlinks

Actually, that might be the reason this whitehat site is being penalized and my autoblog site is doing decent. It's very possible.

What I can try is, move the content to a brand new domain and see how google treats the new content, and simply put on GSC that the content is deleted

Something I have to add is that chekcing the Performance section and checking the pages tab, that If I go from older to earliest timeframe, less pages appear. It's very possible to be an expired domain penalty or a combination of content + expired domain combination.

But really, in all honesty, I don't think it's the expired domain factor, it HAS to be the content. A few years ago I sold a domain to someone and that guy grew the domain and it's ranking for plenty of keywords.

It's a domain that expired and won in auction a few years ago, then sold it to this guy a couple years ago. If it was the expired domain factor, he wouldn't have been able to rank the site, so that leaves it to the content...

What I'm going to try is to spin these 200 articles and make sure the spun versions can't be "traced" back to the currently-posted articles. If it's a sitewide penalty, the penalty should lift once the whole 200 articles are spun and reposted. I also read that these penalties might lift after the next core update, so it's worth a shot. I wrote these articles and I'm not going to waste time rewriting these 200 articles, it's just too much, and I don't even know if it will work.

Now, in regards to my blackhat site, that domain I had it for years now as well, but back in 2014 I used to post on yahoo answers and post my site as "source", but yahoo answers went south so no more backlinks for this one. This one is getting indexed really great but no clicks so far. When checking the Performance section, it's getting more impressions and the pages tab is growing daily, which means that MORE pages are appearing in serps ! :)

So, if my whitehat site doesn't recover after spining the 200 articles, I will just focus on my blackhat site and rank it to the top of serps. Fck it!
