Tried Lord Google but was not able to find what I needed, so I'm hoping you folks can help. What are the definitions of Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 as used in SEO? I see a lot of references to them, but I have not been able to find their meanings.

Thank you so much!

Tier 1 = Pages that have links pointing DIRECTLY to your money site

Tier 2 = Pages that have links pointing to your TIER 1 pages.

Tier 3 = Pages that have links pointing to your TIER 2 pages.

Tier 4....Etc....

That's it. Nothing too complicated.

There you go, watch the video:

Thank you folks so much! This is perfect and very much appreciated.

google this and you'll go to the absolute right pages:
tier 1 sites seo

Funny that, when you Google "what is tier 1 in seo" you get another BHW thread that explains the exact thing.

Clearly didn't even bother searching did we?

Strange you did not find what you wanted on Google. In simple terms, its layered backlinking whereby you build links to your links. Moneysite <-- Tier1<--Tier2<--Tier3

I think the OP made an endeavour to do some research, but I believe the OP may have felt inundated by threads like the thread you were talking about. When I was new to Internet marketing, I was also looking for a clear and concise definition to tiered links. Instead of getting a simple definition like the one conrulez gave, I was given explanations such as:

Tier 1links is directly pointed to money site. And the links that pointed to tier 1 is called as Tier 2 links.

Tier 1 links are fully manual process; there is no automation tools for building links, well written contents only used for posting in High quality authority domains. Such as Niche blogs, Web 2.0s, Articles, Squidoo and Hub, Press release, etc? Also build HQ SBM and Directory listing with unique Ad-Copy for every submission.

Tier 2 links are semi-automated process; we use both manual and automated tools for building links, here we use spun content for posting in micro sites and article sites and also build some amount of blog commenting, social bookmarking links with either manual or tools.

These tier 2 links are backlink to Tier 1 links so that passes some authority link juice to tier 1 links. The authority and value of tier 1 links are increased automatically with the help of Tier 2 links.

If the tier 1 links get more value means your money site also get more authority and value.

Note: we also build tier 3 links with fully automatic process; it?s completely pointed to tier 2 links!
This is not a newbie-friendly definition of tiered links. This is a definition of tiered links by an Internet marketer, for an Internet marketer. Everything I changed to green font in that post would leave a newbie even more bewildered than before and cause them to either skim through the post or skip it entirely. I don't know if people who post like that are doing it to be ostentatious or if they're doing it by accident (it can be difficult to assess someone's skill level in Internet marketing. For example, they could be proficient in PPC but not know much about local SEO). Either way, I try to follow this quote when giving advice to new members of the forum and people new to Internet marketing:

Thank you, Zwielicht. You hit the nail on the head. Some of the explanations are enough to make one's head explode.

I appreciate everyone's input here. I've been looking at the suggested videos for quite a while now. Thank you again.
