Defamtion Liability--->Posters on YOUR Website?

Hi Friends,

QUESTION: What liability does a website owner have with regards to what their posters say?

SCENARIO: Suppose someone from "healthgrades.com" post a bunch of Bad Reviews about their recent doctor visit. In fact the patient is so PO, that he gets his friends to post bad ratings of the doctor and the Dr. ends up with 1 star out of 5. The Dr. Finds out, and wants to sue healthgrades.com.

• -WHAT liability (if any) does "healthgrades.com" have ?
• -Can a lawsuit of defamation of character be WON against healthgrades?

Thoughts/Opinions ?

Under what country's law?

Could they be responsible? It is a matter of opinion...but I guess it might make a difference as the above poster stated with different countries laws.

If the site is in the U.S. its protected by Section 230 47 USC
