Just going through some link profiles and started to thinking what is the best way to link inner pages? Do you use branding anchors when linking inner pages - "Brand", "Domain"? Or branding anchors combined with keywords - "keyword - Brand"? Or just only keywords and general anchors?

I'm just trying to figure out best way to dilute matching anchors when deep linking and one problem is that in my language/niche general anchor usage is not really that common.

I think the most relevant and important keyword/phrase of the linking page should be good idea - no matter if its long tail or even a whole sentence or just 1 word phrase.

I always use URLs as anchors, along with a wide range of keywords, I try to randomize as much as I can. I think mixing 20-30 keywords and adding the URL to that list should work great.

I use URLs also, but sometimes, if you think about it, it doesn't seem to natural to use really long URL. Often people would in reality use some kind of anchor instead of http://exampledomainkw.tld/category/category-keyword/, just because that's just plain ugly.

And since the point was to dilute exact anchors, I don't think bandorsson's reply have anything to do with this. I've been trying to figure out what kind of 'random' keywords (not talking about general 'click here' keywords) I could use. Synonyms/LSI keywords would be great in some cases, but if you have other pages for those keywords, wouldn't that be problematic since then you would target 2/3 pages with same anchors? My understanding is that G don't really appreciate that kind of linking habits, am I right?

You are right but at the same time Google decides what page is about not only buy it's backlink anchors. I would try to diversify anchors as much as possible but still stay relevant. That is the natural wayy.
