Hey guys,

Just need some assistance or answers on why my dedicated server is so damn slow?

I had a VPS before and it was super horrible specs and it worked faster than this dedicated server.
It has no problem downloading files, but when i just try to open folders, it cant even load the files inside, or when i try to copy and move files, it literally copies at 10 bytes/sec.

I'm not too sure what the problem is, can't even do anything on it because when i try to open a folder, takes like 30 seconds just to load the files inside it.
Expected it to be much faster and reliable than a VPS but im really questioning why im paying $75 for this slow server, when my $15 VPS ran faster than this...

Any ideas?

I'll probably send a ticket in and see whats up with it too cause this is some shitty quality.

That sounds like an Hard Drive Issue or Network Issue; either one of them is really messed up. Are you using HDD or SSD? If it's HDD then mostly all the HDD is gone or highly fragmented. Try running this software:

https://www.piriform.com/defraggler

If the HDD has failed or if its an network issue then you nee to contact your service provider to get the HDD replaced or get the networks fixed.

don't worry. you should consider reinstalling your computer ore call your internet provider.

Thanks, ill give it a try and yes it is 2x1TB HDD, not SSD.
It's a new server i just got 1 day ago so im not too familiar with it.

My internet provider? What...? Did you even read my thread or just trying to get post count up?

Just run a HDD benchmark test. Do you host any websites on that server? If yes, are they loading normally or also "laggy" ?

No i don't, just use it to run follow liker bot 24/7.
Can't really test since i literally just bought this 1 day ago.

Try this software to check if disk has any errors.

Did it and these are the results i got..

5 Tests, 1GB Test size, HDD

Seq Q32T1 Read 159.4 MB/s Write 141.6 MB/s
4k Q32T1 Read 1.564 MB/s Write 1.820 MB/s
Seq Read 134.6 MB/s Write 133.6 MB/s
4k Read 0.577 MB/s Write 1.790 MB/s

If it didn't show any errors and the status shows "Good", then it might not be disk issue. It's better to contact the support team.

Yeah, i think i'll open a ticket. It's just strange because it delays everything to load.
Even to just open a folder and if there's files inside, it will load them one at a time and very slow even though the files are very small in size.
My VPS was able to do everything fine. Thanks though

If it's not to secret, can we know the VDS provider? Maybe someone here use the same provider and experience the same thing as you. It could be a general issue.

Well i don't want to give them a bad rep or anything.
I had no issues with their VPS in the past, but this dedicated server just seems to be slower than what i expected for it's specs.

It's Greencloudvps, now it did seem to get a bit faster than before, earlier it was just the most slowest thing i've seen, literally took 30 seconds to open a text file or something.
But right now it seems to be getting better. Will check back tomorrow and see how it's doing.

Look at your speeds from your box to your server. I have noticed at times that it when I click on an item on my remote desktop server that is slow to open. My app that I run runs fairly fast and works it way through my queued items. I may go with their 85 dollar server next month. I have same provider

Contact support, take a screenshot/video of the slow speed and tell them to get it sorted.

From what you said i can see only 3 issues :

1) IOPS over usage. Meaning you are saturating the reading / writing speed of your server's HDD. And the difference you might see is that generally, the linux VPS nodes benefits from faster drives / Hard RAID card.
--> solution upgrade to a SSD based server.

2) Upcoming hard drive failure. Backup your websites immediately and pray for the issue not to occur while you are performing the backup. If you have a backup that's perfectly fine.
--> Contact your provider first so they can check this out for you

3) Network based issue with a saturated port or provider sharing bandwidth accross several server. But 10 bytes per seconds is very low and make it unlikely to be the issue.
--> here again contact your provider.

Sounds like the HDD is extremely old, highly fragmented and a goner. Sometimes going cheap won't help you out. It's always a good idea to grab servers from direct providers as they will have better resources to troubleshoot.

Open a ticket and ask for a server/HDD replacement.

Whats the specs of your server?

Mine is like the $100+ server, and i got 30% off for black friday.

Whats the company you are hosting at?

But yeah, its HDD, corrupt RAM or miss-configured raid.
Simple support ticket will resolve this since this is hosting company issue.
