I'm actually just curious about this, we will have around 50 dating front end websites and 5 different backend api websites..

Do you know how much storage I would be needing roughly? 10tb? 20tb? 1tb?

And dedicated server or vps?

I could just host it from home but meh.

Just give me suggestions because everything needs to be on same server.

I have no suggestions for this but be careful and take good services only, keeping everything on the same server and what will you do if the server is down, probably all your websites will be down together.

Yeah, that's one problem if the server goes down everything goes down. But downtime should be minimal. Preferably just find a server location that have backup generator and backup internet connections.

how much data u will need will depend on the traffic - 10 tb data means tons of traffic - even 1 dedicated server might not be enough in that case. and hosting from your home is not a good idea :)

So what exactly do you mean by data? Storage? The traffic won't be huge maybe 1000 active members total. Only need 1 customer to go profit tbh.. All depends on the affiliate how much they bring. Because sending messages costs and only paid members can send messages so it won't be alot maybe 1-3k per day maximum

Haha, yeah my mistake i wrote data and not storage. Well i did ask, he never built anything exactly like this so he had no idea. But if anyone knows how much they use for like 1 websites I could just calculate it. Because Google wasn't any good help finding how much storage space a dating site use

basically u don't need a lot of storage space if the site does not contain a lot of pictures or videos (if u host the videos on your site)

my advice will be start with a vps - later if u need more storage then u can contact with hosting or upgrade to a dedicated server

it all depends on how many users you have on your 50 websites.

I would say - go for a dedicated server.. it seems in this way you will save some $$$

also, if you have 50 sites now > you already have plans to have more :)

.. there is also the 3rd scenario > take few semi-managed dedicated servers and ask to split them up in vps-s :) .. it seems you always have to keep in mind that the site will scale differently.

be well

Alright, so basically a dedicated server would be better. But isn't there any good vps that could handle my websites? Everything is cross platform connected to 5 databases. So I could most likely get a couple Vps servers if it's cheaper?

Actually would this maybe work for what I'm looking?

Of course Dedicated Server is much better than VPS (it depends on Hardware etc) but generally is much better, resources are better.

This question, sorry to say. So is stupid.. You need to choice something that handles with your currently website or project, not the cheapest one.

VPS are much more cheaper, but dedicated server is much better in terms of performance (Like I said before, it depends on Hardware, Network and Optimization).

If your project isn't bigger and you are looking for something cheap or you have low budget, of course VPS.
If you can afford and you want more resources and performance of course Dedicated Server.

Kimsufi (company from OVH) is cheap and have good prices for dedicated server, but the hardware is not the best, try to use SoYouStart is another company of OVH (if you can afford).

If you want to isolate one from other, is best you buy different VPS or use powerful Dedicated Servers.

Hetzner
OVH
Javapipe
fastpipe.io

Have a good and fastest network.

This discussion is the same as, rice or pasta, rather put the milk first or the cereals?

Alright, the price isn't the main thing i'm looking at. Already spent way more then i expected to hire 2 fulltime coders.

So do you know anything about soyoustart? Cant find much information if they accept adult content or not.

Don't worry, they are reliable. They accept adult content for sure, unless it is illegal. But generally they allow that.
I have used in the past VPS from OVH and some dedicated servers and works fine, no issues with them.

SoYouStart like I said before, is a company from OVH. With better prices for students or beginners in IT.
You can buy without any problem, they allow legal adult content.
