Whats the real impact on SEO if we use a dedicated IP for hosting a website? Does it affect SERPS if we use a shared IP? Im not sure about the technicalities involved in this, maybe someone could make this clear..! Thanks in advance :)

wow no one gave me a reply weird :shocked1:

There's a video of matt cutts talking about how a site will not get penalized if it's on a shared ip with a "bad" site, but i wouldn't want to be on a shared ip with 1000 porn sites, LOL.

You've got a BIG advantage if you use a dedicated IP as opposed to shared I.P. Google will think that you really make some effort to differentiate your site from a "common" site. But its not enough to gain rankings though.

From my point of view it belongs to OnPage SEO.

Not any help in SEO but it def helps you to keep distance with any possible bad neighborhood sites...

BTW if you are interlinking your sites then you might like to keep them on different IPs for more link juice and if possible then on different C class IPs...

Well you guys did clear my doubts to an extend. I guess its not quite linked to the SEO aspect of the site rather the IP's define the kind of place your site is placed in. Maybe google would penalize you for being in the proximity of a website with bad reps.
