When scaling up a project, deciding which pages to push harder is always tricky. I’ve seen different approaches like:
  • Targeting the pages with easiest wins (already ranking, just need tuning).
  • Building authority around cornerstone content.
  • Pushing high-converting money pages even if they’re harder to rank.

are you tracking your keywords?

I usually balance it with a mix of “quick wins” + long-term authority. Pages already ranking on page 2 or bottom of page 1 get priority first because small improvements (on-page tweaks, a few links) can push them up fast. At the same time, I build out cornerstone content to strengthen topical authority and keep investing in the main money pages, even if they’re harder. Basically: easy wins for short-term traffic + cornerstone/money pages for long-term growth.

That's a good breakdown. The ideal way to do things frequently depends on what you want to do right now. Choose the easy victories if you want traffic to rise quickly. If you care more about long-term brand and topical authority, build around cornerstone content. If making money is the main goal, then pushing the money pages is worth the harder climb. A blend that is balanced usually works best.

It depends on whether you want authority or money. Most people who use backlinks for authority focus on pillar content. If you want money keywords to rank, you should focus on content that's already ranking for buyer intent keywords.

The best approach often depends on your current goals. If you want to boost traffic quickly, focus on targeting easy wins (pages that need minimal improvements to climb the rankings). For long-term growth and establishing authority in your niche, investing in cornerstone content is essential. When revenue generation is the priority, dedicating effort to push high-converting money pages, even if more challenging, is worthwhile. Generally, a balanced strategy combining all three tends to deliver the most consistent and sustainable results.
