Are there any among you with knowledge of a simple order tracking databases/system I can use to record basic sales details, order numbers, notes etc..

If so be forth giving of your experiences and knowledge

If you're looking for something super simple then any free/open source helpdesk app is a good starting point to help manage clients better than email.
The next step up in my opinion would be something like Wufoo or Formstack because you can create order forms and capture project details.

For a more advanced solution you can check out SPP. We made it specifically for selling services and many sellers from BHW are using using it for order management and delivery.
