there are semi-moderated/barely ones(you wont get banned from the sub because theres barely anyone managing it, but i still frequent those as its a niche, i do encounter dead ones, but those will likely alert the adjacent subs(related subs) if you were to try to take over. for a time several subs i visited often was barely moderated, it allowed to much nsfw/illicit content to appear its somewhat better now.

The list is not actually your bottleneck, which is why nobody maintains a good public one. r/redditrequest caps you at one request every fifteen days, and if three requests are already pending on a community yours will not even be looked at, so a spreadsheet of five hundred abandoned subs converts to a handful of attempts a year regardless of how good the list is.

Easiest way for somebody not being a cheapskate. Invest a little, save your time.
And where do we invest? That was the question in the first place.
I am currently doing manual search but it is very very hard. There was a subreddit that would list hundreds of dead subs every week but it died a couple of months back.
