Dead PC?

Guys, I cleaned my PC, and now when I power it up, all the fans go on, I hear the CD reader start, CPU light comes on for 4-5 seconds and then nothing. Monitor displays nothing, no other sounds. Don't have a moterboard speaker... The only components I removed were the CPU cooler and the "exhaust" fan. Plugged them back in properly, put new thermal paste on the cooler. Tried switching RAM positions, tried unplugging everything, and plugging in only the power supply cable. Nothing works. Halp

Sounds like the PC isn't even posting - are you using an external graphics card or the onboard graphics?

Onboard. Didn't fiddle with that though.

That's surely a GPU failure, You need HOT AIR GUN and ALUMINIUM you need to rehot the GPU Chipset, while covering the surroundings with aluminium to avoid damaging them.

Alright, will try that tomorrow after work. The thing is, it's a pretty old PC. It did this before. After being off for a while it just wouldn't start for 15-20 minutes. So I power it up, the CD reader does it's thing, fans work, and after a while, I hear another set of sounds from the CD, and it boots up. Weird. Thanks tho! Will let you know about the outcome.

First of all, it could be dust resulting from your leaning so remove and reseat the ram - blow on ram and slots as well in case there is dust in there.

Double check you’ve connected everything else back as well, in particular the psu 24 pin and the psu 4 pin.

Reseat graphics card and other components.

Reseat cpu and make sure thermal paste is on it.

If that doesn’t work, take everything out including ram and just put in cpu and psu then see if you get display on screen- in case it’s a faulty component.

Try external and on board video if you have both just in case one has failed.

If none of that works it’s probably gpu as stated above, or you shorted your mobo.
In this case I’d say it’s easier to replace the part.

ALRIGHT! Had a couple of 12-14 hour shifts at work. Came home dead tired. Couldn't be arsed with the PC - until today.
Bought the buzzer for the mobo, didn't work (not sure if it's a good match, just some random buzzer - it doesn't work).
Didn't try and heat it up because of the lack of time...
Didn't check if everything was connected properly because of the lack of time...
What I did manage is to drop the case side and scratch the monitor. YAY...
So I'm sitting next to it, browsing the interwebs on the phone and it just pops into my mind "power it up, it will start!". I power it up and nothing happens, so I just go back to the phone. 10 minutes later I hear the CD reader go: "chhh, chhh, chhh", I see the 3 LEDs on the keyboard flash and it starts. First it went into BIOS saying something along the lines "POST error, blah blah blah", restarts and boots normally???!!!?!?!11!
Just wanted to update you and say thank you one more time, but apparently this PC has a mind of it's own. I did manage to find a new PC which I will probably end up buying but it's a less of a rush now.
Lesson learned, clean your PC in time:
Pre-cleaning CPU temperature - Core#1 literally displaying "/", occasionally dropping to 95°C, and under max. it says 95°C.
Core#2 95°C
Post-cleaning - Core#1 46°C; Core#2 46°C
