Is it possible to revive dead old sites. Like someone abandons a site, then restore the website and do some seo. Can this method be scaled to multiple sites ?

Of course you can do it, either with expired domain or auction domain, preferably auctions.

Then you may or may not get some traffic instantly, depending on google's mood.

For money sites, if you're planning to rank the websites, you might want to stick/aim for extremely niche-relevant domains only,
Shifting the niche could not work as well as it's used to, the website will pass link juice, but won't rank as good,
Of course, you should aim for clean domains that have enough authority & link to rank for the targeted niche (depending on the competition),

This could be a good idea to start with, instead of a new domain,
Getting some ready, good links, & diversity that could be safely combined with other built links, overall more natural approach
 
Yeah, reviving dead sites is possible. If the domain still has some authority and backlinks, you can rebuild content, fix SEO, and start ranking again. People do this at scale, but it takes time to rebuild traffic.
 
Good insights here. Has anyone seen better results reviving sites in the same niche vs. switching niches completely? Curious if sticking to original topical relevance really makes a big difference when scaling this.
 
In todays expiried domain marketplace, this is maybe a better way. Fresh sites 1-2 year old get hoarded by sellers and your lucky to find one that new. G** forbid there be a wikipedia link on the site, now for no reason the bidding can get out of control.
 
Reviving dead sites is totally doable!
Restore content, fix broken links, and boost with fresh seo scale it with a cms like wordpress for multiple sites

It's exactly what people do when they buy expired domains and use it to grow a website.

It's only worth it if/when domain has good authority(in quality links) and was ranking before getting abandoned.
 
Its a known strategy but before you do so check the domain’s history first, make sure it’s clean and not penalized.

Indeed.

There are measures in place that make it trickier but the principle remains the same.

The key is to not make the website look like it's part of PBN.
