DBA with EPN? Does EPN need a name? Help!

OK I bought an EPN account and my goal is to stay semi-anonymous...

1) If I get a DBA (business name) can I use that is my name in EPN account?

2) If not, can I enter any name + my EIN?

Am I even doing this right?

Here's how I have handled similar situations. Someone else may offer different methods but, this works for me. Your mileage may vary.

Pick a DBA name that is of an imaginary person... i.e., Joe Schmuck's Online Bargain Basement. You can call your DBA whatever you wish, as long as no one can prove you're doing it for fraudulent reasons. Use your imagination.

Register the DBA with the County Clerk or whatever government entity registers DBAs in your area. It'll cost you a few dollars and will probably require publication in a local newspaper. Whomever is registering your DBA will explain the requirements.

Take whatever documentation they give you to a local bank and open a DBA bank account. It will have your name on the account, prefaced by your DBA name.

Apply for an EIN as a sole proprietor with the IRS, in the name of your DBA. You can do it online.

Set up your EPN account as Joe Schmuck's Online Bargain Basement with Joe Schmuck as the payee and set it up to deposit into your bank account.

Take all the normal precautions to cover your tracks when logging in to your accounts, to keep anyone from being able to track duplicate log-in information from the same computer.

When I apply for an EIN online as sole proprietor it asks for name/SSN ... do I use the DBA for name?

Costs $50 to get DBA... I can't just use the name the account came with but use my EIN? It's already linked to a Paypal I have access to.

I thought you were asking about starting from scratch. Sorry for the misunderstanding. If you have an EIN that has never been used with EPN, you can certainly try it.

What's the worst that can happen? They can't take away your birthday.

I know you have to pay for some of these things. There is no such thing as a free lunch.

But can I use a random name with the EIN?
