I'm not sure weather this is just me or others aswell.

but every so often either when I'm just looking around or trying to just get on the site i get a database error. theres no specific error its just a generic "the database has encountered a problem"

just giving the heads up and seeing if anyone else gets this sometimes.

We need more information about the error, or the problem can't be solved.
 
i get this sometimes.......

especially when i am reading something good and the site crashes or whatever...

i hate that
 
I get this on the top of my screen

I also got the same error. I thought it was only me cause no one's complaining
 
I'm getting this also, DB errors from time to time and the
Warning: require(ajax.php) messages at the top of the page.

i posted all the info i had as you can from what i wrote.

Yesterday BHW was up and down for about 5 hours or so. I was working with my host to try to get the server stable and they couldn't for the life of them. The load reached 400 and this is a quad core server! Anyways in that time period I decided to try to make the leap and move to the new server and began changing the DNS name servers. My programmer was half way done transferring this site when the old server crapped out again. This happened twice after which time we couldn't move hosts :(

We will try again tonight, in the mean time we had to disable the ajax.php and some other features to cut down on the load. Once we are on the new server I will update everyone!

thanx much diamond dave, thats what i had expected but never can be too sure.
 
It is also logging users out out even when they signed in at random times. I will try to have this fixed very soon.

HAHAHA I clicked to quote you and respond, and let you know that indeed it did this often. Anyways, I got logged out again before I could :p

Thanks for the update Dave, I didnt know if wed been hacked again or what.
 
I know it's annoying. I had my programmer try again. It took 6 hours just to download this site and then import into the new server. Going from Cpanel to Plesk is also harder than originally anticipated. The mysql server was giving a large packet size error.

//ERROR 1153 (08S01) at line 497: Got a packet bigger than 'max_allowed_packet' bytes

So we had to abort the operation. This problem is getting way out of hand so tomorrow a professional data migration company is going to take over moving my sites. So if the forum shuts down suddenly you'll know why.

All you had to do was increase "max_allowed_packet" in my.cnf under [mysqldump] assuming that your trying to dump the DB or worst case scenario tar your MySQL basedir via scp to the new server.

this is true as i have had to do it before.

also you could download a php script called "big dump" you upload the script upload the db run the script and the script will import the db for you.
 
My programmer had increased the DB packetsize to 100M, but still error stayed.

I have been working behind the scenes trying to get off this server as fast as possible. Sadly, everyday this week something has gone wrong. A data migration firm told me they would begin the migration on Wednesday night but didn't start the work and didn't hear back from them until Thursday night telling me that they could possibly begin migration next Wednesday!

After that, Rackspace suggested using the "Plesk Migration Manager" which wasn't installed so they had to spend time installing it. My programmer was going to do the move today (Friday). However when he couldn't because there was a "Bug" with the migration manager. I had to send a ticket to rackspace and they in turn had to send a ticket to Plesk. Plesk took 8 hours to reply back with a fix and by this time my programmer was asleep.

For the cherry I received a call on Wednesday from my Bank that someone stole my Credit Card number and started buying expensive items on overstock.com. I will see what tomorrow brings, I have never had this bad luck in my life. It's been one long week! :microwave

P.S. Tomorrow we should be moved to the new server and shouldn't experience anymore weird site problems.. (Crossing my fingers) :)

are we on the new server now? because idk if its just me but i seem to be having an massive speed increase on page loads. :)
