Hi there, I'm an automation dev that's looking to scrape some websites and sell their data, but I don't even know where to start. How could I find out what the trends are when it comes to valuable data? And I would also like to know whether there are any websites (besides BHW) where I could sell that data. A data-by-request model would work magnificently for me. Thanks in advance!

Try to focus on one field or niche that way whenever you get new clients it won't be something new and you'll always have available fresh sample data to share so pick one go with it.

I thought of that, but there is a pretty large barrier of entry (no one would choose a newly registered freelancer and they wouldn't pay that well until you'd get to make a name for yourself).
 
I scrape data and build huge databases that i then sell onto Recruiters, recruiters are great buyers as they can use large databases for client outreach and candidate outreach
 
Check websites like rapidapi that sell API's. There's a big market for GMB listings etc
 
one niche would be real estate sell them leads or help people finds houses that are going down in price.

If you want to sell data, start by figuring out what’s valuable. Check Google Trends, Reddit, Exploding Topics, or see what’s selling on Datarade. E-commerce, finance, SEO, and social media data are always in demand.


For collection, tools like Scrapy, Selenium, and APIs can help, but watch out for blocks—use proxies and IP rotation.


You can sell on Datarade, DataBroker DAO, BlackHatWorld, Upwork, or even launch a service on Gumroad or SaaS.


Just be mindful of legal issues—follow ToS, GDPR, and anonymize sensitive data to stay out of trouble.
 
I am currently doing this kind of work. First of all, you have to clarify which industries' data are valuable. For example, if your client is a gambling website and its main users are in France, then you need to find as many French gambling websites as possible, extract the website user data, and then sell the data to your client. Only such data is valuable.
