Danger of using emails from Facebook Scraper tool?

Hi guys,

So I've been seeing lots of software and consultants advertising that they can "scrape" email addresses from any Facebook group or page.

Assuming this works, is it safe to build a custom lookalike audience from this list? I read somewhere that Facebook put "traps" in the system. What does this mean? Is it that some emails are "fake" and if you use it Facebook will know you were scraping?

There's sellers on here such as @anis12 who offer this service .

Don't try to undercut someone's work buddy.
I'm working with @anis12 and having no problem.
If this is your question "Is it dangerous to scrape data?"
Certainly not.
I don't get what you say by fb trap etc.
You need to educate yourself OP.

people like u who made my day, thx:)

did anyone answer about the "traps' part? i have never heard this?

Hi guys, thank you for the enthusiastic responses!

Here's my concern. As of July, Facebook implemented a new policy which requires advertisers to declare WHERE they got the user data for building custom audiences and to CERTIFY that they got the data legally (i.e. with user consent).

So if I were to create a custom audience using a scraped email list, I'm worried about getting banned from Facebook. If I mess up this Facebook account I can get fired.

Hi MisterF, thank you for the recommendation.

Hi Keyboard2, it isn't my intention to undercut any specific person's work. I'm sure the vendors on this site do great work. I'm not offering a competing service. I'm just kind of chicken.

Hi Anis, sorry but can I ask you some questions that might sound "dumb"? (I'm new please excuse my ignorance).

So are you saying your way is safe but there are other ways that's unsafe? What's the difference?

If I give you a private Facebook Group would you be able to scrape the email addresses? Or do I need to somehow help you get into that group?

did anyone answer about the "traps' part? i have never heard this?

Ok, here are some of the theories I've heard.

1. Some people claim that Facebook will insert specific fake email addresses that are only accessible by scrapers. So if you end up entering one of them you trigger their algo to catch you.

2. Some people claim that if you use a list that is very similar to another list Facebook recognizes (i.e. they see that you uploaded 40% of all the addresses from the group "I LOVE GOLD STATUTES GROUP", then Facebook will be suspicious how there's so much overlap between a facebook group and your audience.

I have no proof just people telling stories on Facebook marketing groups and Youtube comments.
