Did you know that your privacy rights are currently under threat? ICANN is considering
introducing a rule that would impact all netizens. If you care about your online privacy, this is a big deal.

Under new guidelines proposed by MarkMonitor and other organizations who represent the same industries that backed SOPA, domain holders with sites associated to "commercial activity" will no longer be able to protect their private information with WHOIS protection services. "Commercial activity" casts a wide net, which means a vast number of domain holders will be affected. Your privacy provider could be forced to publish your contact data in WHOIS or give it out to anyone who complains about your website, without due process. Why should a small business owner have to publicize her home address just to have a website?
We think your privacy should be protected, regardless of whether your website is personal or commercial, and your confidential info should not be revealed without due process. If you agree, please contact ICANN right away and demand your right to privacy and due process. Let them know you object to any release of info without a court order. There's no time to waste -- the close date for comments is July 7, 2015.
Visit our new site respectourprivacypilcy(dot)com and we'll guide you through the process of calling or emailing ICANN. Thanks!

True, although it's a slippery slope, next they will make your prove your real address.

Who cares, register your domains with fake names.

Saves money and if all your domains have private whois that can be a footprint.

Man im not sure if any of these cyber laws will actually work with so many anonymity tools and services out there, is just like prohibition its virtually impossible to track certain online items if not all if you are careful enough

just my humble opinion

They will check. Probably going to make Namecheap and others required to get proof. They did it for my health insurance. The few people I host I guess can sign their domain to my company for a hidden address.

They will do it with all the "sensitive" niche that you target, they started already with medicine drugs and health care so will be followed by others, you just have to play smart in making your PBN that is all.

This is true, however it is against Icanns terms of service,so to speak.

ICANN (not the domain registrar) requires that all information in your registration be valid.

If any dispute arises (see the ICANN Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy rules here) you will be contacted via the means specified in your domain registration. Notice that section 14 of the rules is a section that defines what happens as part of a 'default' (in other words, they can't contact you): They'll proceed with a judgement, and you won't get a say in the proceedings.

ICANN has the power to take a domain from you and give it to somebody else.

So yes, it's important that you include valid information in your registration information.

Personally I would stay away from fake name registrations or address, whois protection was and is fine as is.. if they do not play round with it.
I am thinking as someone else on the thread has stated, registering LLC or PTY LTD,might be the other only option to go.
I suppose some of the bigger players wll register a few LLC/PTY LTD companies and spread out/scatter the domains amongst them might be the way to go if things get drastic.
But right now i feel this is an early stages of an attack on pbn,s..a few shots across the bow to gauge reactions?

You think that ICANN is going after PBN's?

I don't have my own PBN but I have like 10 domain registered on my account in namecheap. Few of this sites are ranking in google now if they reveal my info google will see that the owner of all of this sites are just one person. Should I be worried?

THis is just another "organisation" trying to censor the internet, but most people behind things like this thinks that the internet = face book and if u make money on the internet u must be cloning cards or hacking.
We are a resourceful bunch of lads, even if this ICAAN sh it will be past, i bet there will be services popping to register domain names to some homeless dudes name..
Wouldnt worry to much about it as registering with a nickname, alias or any other false name on any site is still illegal, as it was for women to wear fuk in pants till 2014..

Not.. ICANN per say,but if for example say we know the registered domains of say Greg Morrison, and they are not protected with whois, then we can disect his PBN...for me its non issue to know them, however some melon head could have other sinister reasons, such is the internet.

No no worries at all mate, its just that it opens everything up to malicius melon heads is the only drawback,so if and if it ever eventuates,it would be good to stay low and not rock the boat with D/Heads online.
In anycase in editing the link i mistyped the petition url it is ...respectourprivacy(dot)com...for those whom want to protest. The site is in Red to the lurking danger lol..was going to take a screen shot..but got to run.
