    Hi Friends,

Anyone ever read any of Dan Kennedy's books or listen to his audio/videos?

The dude is an old timer BUT he claims that many of the New Entrepreneur's have used his technique's and swear by them. As a matter of fact he states that he never even uses the Internet...Huh?

    Yep....read it here.

    • Can you recommend any of his work?

    Thanks in advance!

IMHO, he is a true legend, and a master of the marketing field.
some of his books are a few years old, but much of his stuff is readable and top quality.
I would say his teachings are at senior level, not basic nor intermediate.
renegade and others springs to mind, here is a link to a list for you.

Dan Kennedy is the real deal. Reading his books will definitly be worth your
time. (If you have anything to do with marketing.)

If I had to name 10 marketing guys worth learning from, he'd be on that list.

Buy one of his books most appealing to you by title, read 20 pages, if it's no
good in your opinion, I'll pay you 10 bucks.

    Seriously, get his stuff.

He is definitely a legend, for better or worse. I have always found him to be kind of an asshole but he absolutely knows his stuff and is the grandfather of the info-product explosion in the early days of internet marketing. Most of the A-class gurus from around 2007-2008 learned their stuff from him as well and consequently held him in the highest regard.

I'm not sure if I have my people straight here, but I think he was the guy that would sell seats at seminars for $40k/per and still sell out. Do the math on that one at 100 seats.

    s0ap,

If that is true...his seminar grossed him $4mil?
...if that is the case, the trick is to become a Guru...and then promote and sell tickets to your Guru Seminar----No?

Well, like I said I'm not sure I have the right person, it has been a while since I listened to any of his (or anyone else's) stuff. But I'm pretty sure it was him or Bencivenga.

Price point is something that a ton of people miss, the economics of moving units at 5/6 figures per will put you in a different tax bracket if you can pull it off. Most of Kennedy's seminars are floating around the net, download one and listen for yourself.

I know this one is old, but it came up as I was searching for something else. Dan Kennedy knows his stuff, and he is "the man behind the scenes" of not only many of the Gurus out there, but more mainstream stuff as well. He does the marketing/copywriting for many infomercials, as well as proactive (the acne treatment), and weight-watchers ( i listened to an interview with him where he flat out said he was making more $$ from weightwatchers than the CEO!)

Regardless, whether you are talking about the new gurus (kern, burchard, etc) the salty older guys (kennedy, halbert, carlton, joe sugarman) etc. It all goes back to a few fundamental pieces of writing:

Scientific Advertising/My life in advertising by Claude Hopkins

    Robert Collier Letter Book

    Breakthrough Advertising, by Eugene Schwartz

All those guys use that stuff, they simply tweek the delivery to suit the market and the specific media they use.

    Good luck

His stuff seems pretty legit and so I went and got shitloads of his stuff.

Problem is, now its information overload and I don't know where to start.

    Nevertheless, he's golden.

Dude, start with Claude Hopkins, Scientific Advertising. I got a copy on kindle for like $2. Once you read that 1-2 times, everything else starts to make sense. It all comes back to that. I feel your pain, as I tend to devour information. Sometimes it takes a while to "gel" but it ultimately comes back to implementation. That's why academia sucks. It's all theory, no practice.

TEST something->measure the results->change something->test again and repeat the process

From what I heard you have the right guy. A mentor of mine lived at his mansion for a year as an apprentice because
he was a wiz at helping Dan sell seats to his $5,000 and up seminars!! Guy says seminars were worth every penny
too. He sold seats for Dan cause he never wanted to miss a single seminar. Now he's wealthy too. I know Kennedy's a genius of copy
and marketing although to me there are guys on this forum who are his equal when it comes to marketing online. We stand on his shoulders.

    So true buddy...

Thanks for the info, I'm going to have a look into it. This actually just adds to the already massive amount of stuff that sits like a mountain in front of me... lol

Maybe I should just go "Shift + Delete" and start all over :(
