You guys ever listened to this guys stuff? I downloaded some of his things from demonoid, took a listen and the only thing I could think the entire time was "how is this douchebag making any money?!?" Did I miss some golden nugget of knowledge? Or is he always that crappy?

I watched some of his old stuff, and yeah, he seems to always be that crappy.

He talks about "how to get conversions", have you seen his fucking "inner circle" website?

It looks like it came right out of 2005.

Every time I look at the, no offence, heavily overweight guy, run of the mill corporate attire and just downright annoying persona, I think - "I hope I don't fucking end up like this".

In my honest opinion, he simply takes common ideas and tries to make them slightly more complex to condition a crowd of thousands into thinking he's some kind of God.

For example, he took the basic idea of referral marketing, which has it's application (or at least should have, in pretty much any business), tells a story about a plumber who had a nice Mercedez and would do pro-bono work for clients in return for referrals and has a crowd watching him astounded by this magnificent revelation.

On another video, he takes the notion of follow-up communication, and tells the crowd to send out multiple direct mails if they don't get a reply back within X time. Again, same response from the crowd it seems.

Not particularly innovative or brilliant if you ask me, but hey, that's just my opinion :).

Dan Kennedy is old school. He was a great marketer back in the day from around 2005-2008. I purchased several of his books back then.

But it seems like he hasn't updated his marketing techniques of today. I think he's stuck in the prehistoric days, marketing without the use of modern technology.

Well... technology changes...but the principles never change.

Dan Kennedy himself brags about not using technology. Perhaps he doesn't know how to turn on a computer, but he knows about human nature in business.

If you trace guys like Frank Kern, Yanik Silver and even Tim Ferriss you'll find that they studied Dan.

Yeah, Dan is old school and was marketing back in the 80's as a postcard and mailout marketing master businessman.

Don't underestimate this old dog, guys. He is a the original ' marketing guru ' godfather.

He is absolutely ' mean ole dan ' as his nickname states. He is someone to be listened to if you want to use traditional methods that REALLY work. Overlook the harsh ' old fart ' personality and take notes of what he teaches.

It all can be modified to work online and be just as effective, in some ways, actually WAY easier.

he's pretty oldschool and implements a lot of offline advertising methods that work.

he doesn't need to focus on his website either. probably has thousands of paying subscribers, so why fix what's not broken?

also he does business consulting, he's not making as much money from his website as he does with working on other peoples businesses.

his information is still good, he knows psychology very well and that's what you should take from his teachings, how to sell via words and persuasion.

Dan Kennedy is brilliant in the offline world. Listen to everything you can of his. He's Marketing 101.

It can be a little outdated in terms of examples and means, but the methodology is spot-on. His book The Ultimate Sales Letter is a must....
