Damn Speed Camera

So back in early September I was coming back from the National Harbor (close to Washington DC) and what do you know, I see a flash in my rear view mirror which I knew meant I was busted by a speed camera.

Well today I received in the mail my ticket and how much was the ticket you say. $150 freaking dollars. I remember reading on one of the tech blogs about a company that sells a product to defeat these "big brother" devices but I can't remember what site it was.

Anyone know of a product that has been proven to work (and not those sprays that I see listed all the time)? I believe the product used IR.

I feel for you man.. i've had my share of those. frustrating since the 1st cause of deaths and road acccidents is fatigue, and second is alcohol. I know in Germany they have some portions of freeways that have no speed limit, and they have not witnessed increased accidents there.. just another excuse to extort money from citizens.

First one I ever got and writing a check to the "state" really grinds my gears. The issue with most so called solutions is that most of them require the speed camera to use it's flash.

The "plate" either has a sensor that will also flash to defect the speed camera's flash or has a material that blurs the plate depending on the angle

I got one as well in the DC area and what really irritates me is the company that owns the cameras and collects the data gets like 60-70% of your ticket and that's why they are so expensive...

or 1 day this might happen - speed cameras are there for a reason
because jackasses wont go at the appropriate speed - so suckup
your ticked and ease of the gas . idiots .

Of course speeding causes accidents but it is far from being the main cause. I think an old person who can't see shit and half deaf driving around in the city is far more dangerous than someone doing 140-150 km/h on the freeway instead of 130 km/h/. Yet you don't see signs forbidding old people to drive...

if i say to you - put a gun to your head and pull trigger - what will happen ?
what happens when you your caught speeding ? you get a ???????

simple really if u dont wanna blow your head of - dont pull the trigger
if you dont want a ticket --- dont speed....

thing about speeding - no matter how fast/slow you go, the place your
going to will still be there

My son was working on a US site which has members that report these cameras, detectors, new detectors, hidden police interceptors, and so on. The members report their findings which are immediately added or updated into a database, and then relayed to the other members. These members get a warning as they approach the hidden cameras and they can then stay within limits until they pass those.

Don't remember that site though. When he contact me I will ask about it. But that site or such sites are many I believe. Becoming a member would be fun dodging those detectors.

If possible, stay within limits and save lives, your own first!

P.S.:
My town has a speed limit of 35kms/hr!!! My son was caught even when he was obeying that limit, and it is hard to do when you are riding a rather powerful (by our standards at least) bike. The policeman charged him Rs 300 (without of course handing any receipt) on the spot and said that he was doing over 60 kms --- on a road full of potholes!!! Of course we do not have speed guns here and of course poor drivers don't carry any guns either

D), and of course one cannot argue with the "Law"! That was some easy money earned and plenty of other drivers got high blood pressure that day!

In the UK you can get a speed Camera and Speed gun warning system. Its actually not illegal to have them but it is illegal to be caught using them so you have to thread a fine line. There are also Numberplates available with a highly reflective honeycomb background that make the flash photo blurred but they are highly illegal if caught. May be different in other countries

Camera warning systems are fully legal to use. It's the speed gun detectors that are somewhat illegal to use, not sure of the exact laws. Road Angel is a well known 100% legal to use system.

Hmmmmmm. I thought it was 100% legal to own and carry in your car but illegal if you were caught with it plugged in and operational ? Could be wrong.....anyway thanks to phone GPS satnav etc we are all fooked....go out and buy a Skyline or Monaro while you can still use it !!

Here in the United States each state has different "Laws" on anti speed camera equipment and it's use.
