Hi

my name is Zohra... I am developping an affiliate program. After spending some time on the forum I was wondering if affiliates who work with blackhat techniques could damage the ranking of my site within Google?
I would be very grateful if you could send me some tips what to verify regarding potential affiliates in order to minimize the risk of having bad surpises.

You could also get hit by a car while walking on the street but that don't stop you from taking a walk does it? Just sayin'.. good luck with your site!

Yes, it could. That's the risk to allowing affiliate to promote your products/services. Choose your affiliates wisely like you would any other business partnership. Because just like in any business partnership, you can be held partly responsible for everything that business does.

somedevil .... hey sweetheart give me a better explanation... I am a newbie!!! this is my first affiliate programm dont want to be run over by a car!!! and also I put a lot of time into creating a beautiful site with a unique design.... so dont want it to be run over!!

Like anything, there is always a chance of something going wrong, but don't let that stop you! I cannot see how black-hatters can ruin your rankings through you running an affiliate network. The biggest problem, however, could be affiliate fraud but there are ways to easily stop this. There are numerous security systems that you can put in place if you just do some research. Hope this helps clear up some of your concerns...

we are setting up a system pay commission for confirmed sales... so the fraud risk should be limited (I hope!)

Have you tried to go on google webmasters and disavow backlinks?
