Dad died - How to unlock phone pattern?

Condolences.

Although you can search youtube and try bypass the passcode by yourself, I suggest you just go to the nearby phone repair shop and ask them to remove the passcode. It's pretty easy for them and should cost very little.

This way you get peace of the mind quicker rather than fiddling with phone by yourself.

You should at least see a pattern on the screen itself.

My condolences.
The quickest way is to visit a local mobile repair shop, if that's a thing in your country. But I'd suggest you to contact FB and they'll memorialize or close your dad's account, whatever you request them to do.
If you have your dad's death certificate ready, here's the contact form for FB : https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/234739086860192

Condolences for your loss.

Since he had Samsung, you might be able to gain access to the phone if he had "findmymobile" setup, it has the option of unlocking the phone. I would also suggest taking it to a phone store instead of trying combinations, since it could lock you out for a while.

Hey man - I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my deepest condolences. I'll be sure to include you and your dad in my prayers.

If there is anything, anything all that I can do, please do not hesitate to ask. I got you.

As for the pattern thing - I'd really recommend visiting a mobile shop. They know their stuff and can easily help.

If FB is the only thing you need it for, then as @NirvanaWolf suggested - getting it Memorialized would be your best bet. The form is here - https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/234739086860192

Which phone model ?

my deepest condolences man.

Why not post from your account and tag your dad, so that his friends can see as well.

Thanks man. I couldn't do that, because he had me blocked on Facebook, and I had him blocked. It's a loooong story, let's leave it at that.

Good news. So lucky me, his old phone, which didn't want to show anything on screen, eventually turned on and the screen showed. And it didn't have any lock on it, and he was logged into Facebook with it.

I almost left to go get the phone screen repaired. I figured, it may be password protected too, but at least there's a chance it isn't. I also got the impression it's not protected because I managed to turn it on and turn it off. If I can turn it off, the screen can't be locked. The only problem was the screen was black, it wouldn't show anything, so I couldn't do anything.

But in the end, the phone screen came alive by miracle, and the phone wasn't locked, and my dad was logged into his Faceobook account with it.

So I unblocked myself, and I unblocked him on my FB profile. Then I made us friends again! Then I replied to all the people that had messaged him on Facebook, to tell them what happened. And then I made a post on his timeline to inform his friends of his death, and to say when the funeral is going to be, so that anyone that can and wants to come, can come.

And that's that :)

Regarding the other phone, his good phone, I may give it a few more shots at unlocking. If it fails, I'll take it somewhere to see if any data can be saved (photos, videos, etc). And then I'll do a hard refresh and wipe everything.

I really hope I manage to unlock the screen, but I fear I won't manage to do that...

Tried a few more...
