I've read several post's here with great information, thanks to everyone, but I still cannot get the thumbnail I want on my videos

I run a video site/youtube channel and this is driving me insane...is there a tool or tutorial on how other people get a "custom" thumbnail on their videos???

I'm tired of seeing great thumbnails of half naked chics without being able to do the same myself LOL

search my posts with "thumbnail" as keyword, i explained it.

All you do is put the thumbnail you want in the exact middle of your video.
(i.e. 1:00 Minute Video = Thumbnail created at 0:30 Seconds)

"Put the thumbnail in the middle of the video" , yeah SURE...

Good luck if it's a video clip or something of that nature, don't be surprise if you got no views.

No the thing is to put the thumbnail at the very end of the clip like this it'll be the third thumb choice.
People are too lazy to watch entirely a video (me included) unless they really like it, guys will never notice it this way

Under which rock did you come from? That don*t work for almost a year now!YouTube have made it random.

yeah i read on here to take the length of the video (ie. 3:00) and divide the number of seconds by 4

then place your video in one of those 4 spots

did THAT and it DIDN'T work at all

I will try placing it at the end

The method i used is this one:

Let's say the full length of your video is 4 min 00 sec (without the customed thumbnail at the end)

4min 00 sec = 240 seconds

What you wanna do is add + 33.4 % in time after those 240 seconds

So:
240 = 100 %
? = 33.4%

(240 x 33.4) / 100 = 80.16 seconds

Here we are, you must make a 80 seconds long clip with your thumbnail and add it at the end of your regular video.

Are you guys new on YouTube?

It dont work for almost a year anymore.

last time i tried was like 4 months ago or something i'm sure if i try now it'll work i see no reason

I tried something similar and it Failed....your method sounds even more odd.

Who wants an 80 second long thumbnail in a video?? really??

if it works then you are the king, if not that sounds crazy yo

The thumbnail itself don't have to be 80 seconds long actually more like 10 sec at most then it can be a blank picture (black preferably) but the video part where you put the thumbnail has to be 80 seconds long in this example.

I'll retry my technique this weekend if it still work y'all get a ass whomping.

LOL, sounds fair enough but your explanation is confusing...

you say if your video is 240 seconds long then you must make a clip that is 80 seconds to ADD to your original 240 seconds right?

what do you put in that 80 seconds of extra video? thumbnails? blank images?

I believe you put the picture or whatever in the BEGINNING of the video so the first thing people see is the picture and then it continues to go into the movie..

Nope at the beginning doesnt work

Ah it worked for you? That's great i knew the overpaid monkeys at Youtube are just that..monkeys.They couldn't have changed the way the system is since they're under educated hehe.

Glad it worked this way i don't have to make new tests.
