Facebook groups are a great way to advertise to a targetted group of customers. If you close the group off at 5000 members, you can still send messages to your entire group at once. For obvious reasons, this can be pretty powerful.

If you'd like a custom facebook group made for you, PM me with your niche.

Go with Fan Pages. They are better for 3 main reasons.

1 - When you post updates no matter how large your Fan Page is, it will go into the main Friend Feed. (Mass mailing is delayed and capped)
2 - No limit on invites.
3 - The Fan Page will show up in the Find Friends suggestions to people who have friends who are a fan of the page. (Helps them go viral)

I agree with you on those three points.

The con of Fan Pages is that there is no way for your fans to invite all their friends. My recommendation is to start a Facebook Group, and have it linked to your Fan Page. About 5% of your group members will also join your fan page.

Again, if you'd like a custom-made group for targeted advertising, let me know.

Once they click a Fan Page right under the display picture on the left they will see "Suggest to Friends".

I'm sure as with everything people have success in different ways, I just never can get people to invite others to my groups. ;) Most likely me doing something not ideal though, you'd know better than I how to get those groups going.

There are SO MANY ways to go about it :).

When advertising with facebook groups, I recommend picking a very targetted niche that you know will be interested in your aff offers. This way your marketing message will be well-received. Then, grow like crazy. The 5000 member limit won't be an issue, but the members that do join will be exactly who you want listening to your pitch.

Or, you can just go viral and then try to flip your group...

well i have a group "http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=49655468634". This is targetted towards denver based people. Can any one suggest what i will do to earn money from this group. I have nearly 5000 members in this group. I will very soon close the new members joining due to limitation of 5000 members message sending.

It's obvious. The facebook group itself is a great place. I would like to consider you for my future plans.
