I can also confirm this. My site that was hit by Penguin 2.0 in May 2013 recovered right when they released Panda 4.0. I highly suspect that they did more than just Panda and Pay Day Loans updates.

Hmmm! This is too embarrassing! Anyway my websites are all gone now! So i'm trying to rank one of my youtube video since last year august until now! and it's didn't rank on Google.com yet! but it was indexed on Google.lk but not in Google.com
 
I am checking my strategies... we should known what are working in this moment. When I will known I will post here too.

There should be no problem with web 2.0 tier 1 unless you work like a spammer. Just keep the content and blog clean and increase the authority. It will be OK

You also need to factor in the age of the websites. I'm guessing these were all new domains, so any type of aggressive SEO would raise red flags. But its still a great test to know what you can or cant do on brand new websites.

Wow, been gone for a day or two and someone from my thread gets re-banned lol

Anyways, yes the domains were only registered for about 6 weeks before I set them up and started the tests. They did last for about 4 months

We can takeaway a couple things here, domain age is a factor on how aggressive you can be and multiple strategies are better than 1 constant pattern.

Still open to suggestions and more strategies that would like to be tried out

any changes from the panda update?
 
More focus on PBN with frequent updates with new content. In my opinion, that has more weight than just building backlinks
 
I wanted to also mention that I set up webmaster tools on 2 SEO test sites that got the unnatural links warning.

After the linkprofile analysis I think I realized why these two websites got penalized. A majority of the links 70% where from the pbn even though they had natural anchors the links to the site all had either 6 or 1. There was only 30% of the links from other sources such as Wordpress.com and tumblr blogs, prweb and pinterest etc.

When I looked at other sites that didn't get the unnatural links warning but were on the same blog network the link profile was totally different. Instead of only 20-30 links (penalized websites) with an average of 6 or 1 links per domain these sites had over 100 and varied in the amount of links per domain think (600-1)

From this I think it is important to find ways to rank websites first with other techniques then use your PBN to finish it off. Also diversify your strategy and randomize it to an extent
