Seems just about every signal that used to work no longer does, or if they do is' very temporary i.e gets a news algorithm boost

What do you guys consistently see in the last couple of months that still legit works, and sticks

I.e
Social signals
Answers
PBN
EDUs
Comments - lol
PDf, Image, Video link
Google news sites
2.0s

or what's new that works
etc etc

Thanks in advance

Maybe anecdotal.
But reddit links seem to get my articles indexed. Especially the ones that have some thread activity.

def a difference between getting indexed and actually having an algo effect though

Guest posts, PBNs, and niche editing still work as long as they are quality and relevant.

Niche Guest Post, Niche Edits, High Quality press releases.

Lot of old thing still work like PBN always work. See Yandex ranking factor leak lot of it apply to Google too

Good links always work, PBNs, niche edits, high authority links, etc.

Building high-quality backlinks through guest posting and outreach is still effective in the long run. Creating valuable content that people want to link to nature is also a great strategy. Additionally, optimizing for user experience and site speed can have a positive impact on rankings.

Google is really focusing on quality of sites, content, user experience signals. The stuff that's hard to fake.

Always wonder what it thinks of news sites with tons of articles/guest posting...

Although it depends on several factors but if you are just referring to offpage then Links acquired through Outreach(Guest Posts/Link Insertions) on legit Websites does make an impact!

If you have a big site and you run long term, you have to put all kinds of links, make a mix, make it look as natural as possible.

If you are doing microniche sites (such as a single product site) then you can go for some of the stronger links (pbn, press release, articles on newspapers, etc.) as you will only need 30-50 links. Here is not a problem if you don't have too much diversification. The longer you want the project to last, the more attention you pay to the anchor (more naked anchors).

Be careful to bring in social signals and if you can some external traffic.

That's it.

P.S: BUT whatever you do, make sure you have a perfect site in terms of On page seo. Otherwise you lose a lot of potential.

Good luck!

I feel like press releases do absolutely nothing, and google is well aware of what they are and that they are bought links etc

Also I have to laugh at people still pushing and using profile links etc, much of the spam stuff is completely irrelevant at this point.

Press releases can be really powerful when done right. If we can create an interesting case study/report/project and do a press release about it, some real journalists do pick it up and then link to you when writing about it.

And even if they don't get picked up by journalists, they do help add relevancy in Google's Knowledge Graph (just like some good no-follow backlinks).

If you have a decent budget, then its worth going for PR on sites like Bloomberg, Business Insider, Yahoo domains. They portray you like a real business in Google's eyes, because most small-timers can't afford them and its also hard to publish on Black Hat niches.
