I've been researching ways to make money online recently and have found that almost al strategies is to get a product/service online that fixes a problem and through organic/paid advertisement you get clients and sell. I have always wondered what if you just filter it perfectly to find your audience and make sure they buy. Like is it possible to create a business solely based on paid ads and for it to turn a profit. What are the margins? Do paid ads cover themselves with sales? Or does this strategy leave you mostly in losses?

Yea brother, you can definitely have a successful business with paid ads. You just need to have budget & heart to deal with the initial stupid tax. What do i mean by stupid tax? I mean like making unprofitable ads, making a mistake and accidentally giving a scammer your money, you get a virus on your computer, etc.

Margins vary between different businesses but I guess if you want a rough estimate, I figure paid ads on scale have a margin of 10-35%.
