    Hi everyone,

I'm currently adding a couple of micro niche sites to my portfolio (gotta keep busy, right? :D) and I was looking into the ctr theme. I've read good experiences and bad ones but also a couple of people claimed they got banned from adsense for using it? Can someone verfy this? I don't care if the ctr is bad but my (last) adsense account is holy too me

    thanks in advance

I used the ctr theme for some time but after I heard that it may affect rankings I just switched to another one. Though no problems with my adsense account during those few weeks.

3 ads per age and a privacy policy and unique and valuable content not less than 1000 words per page are a few important things....

I can't understand why a theme could possibly get you into trouble. Unless the ratio of content to ads is TOTALLY out of whack, I just don't see why Google would ban you or whatever.

I wonder this exact same thing. I have CTR theme on couple of my sites, but not sure yet if it's affecting rankings.

It's not necessarily the theme but rather the placement of the ads that are illegal.

There are placement guidelines for ads that are against the TOS of the Adsense Program that many popular themes often break.

It's funny because a lot of popular WSO's etc. that promote Adsense Blueprints etc. explicitly break these Ad placement rules and people get banned and they don't know that they actually broke the rules.

Before using any theme/placement etc., review the below to see if you are in line with the TOS.

Thanks for the answers.. I've put it on a couple of my websites and we'll see about the ranking. I do have another question/concern. I've already got about 15 mns sites at the moment but 10 of them use the Heatmap theme. I'm getting great results with it but I'm a bit worried that using the same theme so often will put my account at risk too? They are all hosted on the same hosting account. What do you guys thinks?

I have a fair few sites hosted on my resellers account using the Heatmap theme and (touch wood) all seem fine. As Guyman82 said above, as long as you're within Adsense TOC's and keep the content fresh and relevant then I can't see it causing a problem. My theory is to stay away from using a wall of text and nothing else, with ads placed here and there within the article, and try and incorporate videos and pictures as well and try and make the site appealing to the visitor.

I got banned yesterday. Wasn't doing anything black hat apart from using the CTR theme on 10 micro niche websites.

I've had CTR on my adsense sites since the day CTR was released. (2009) Ok I don't use adsense any more - but almost 200 sites with it on and never a ban. MOst of the sites still exist, and I still make maybe $200 in adsense a month (well - $150 anyway - which is sad if you think about it, it's like 3 cents per site per day....)
Google will often tell you why you are banned (if you ask - to begin with they can be very obtuse) they'll say "Low quality experince for visitor" which is saying popups. crappy text, plagirised content, unsafe (how may update the theme and WP instal to the latest version when they should?) but, most commonly, it'd too many ads above the fold.

You can f&ck up with any theme. PM me an example of a site that you think got you banned - and I'll tell you why your likely to have been banned. Bet it's not the theme itself, but the way you used it.

If you have an unusually large CTR rate though they usually ban you without looking into it, right?

I had about 25%-30% CTR with CTR theme a while ago. Not banned. Everthing was paid in full (few grands). Probably you should blame your traffic quality, not CTR or CTR theme. If everything is legit, then even 30% CTR is not a problem.
