CTR Dropped After Changing Thumbnails — Coincidence or Signal?

I recently switched to new thumbnail designs — more minimalist, less text — and my CTR tanked by half. Same topics, same audience. Does YouTube “learn” old thumbnail patterns and punish big changes? Thinking of switching back to old style.

YouTube doesn't exactly punish changes, but drastic shifts in thumbnail style can confuse your audience if they're used to a certain look. Sometimes it takes a bit for viewers to adjust, so testing a middle ground between old and new might help before fully committing.
