Csv dumping help needed

Hi,

I am new to this, and was wondering if someone could help me with csv dumping?
I have obtained csv code from a website I am looking to promote, but am unable to use the code obtained.
Does anyone know where I can find info on learning how to use the csv code that has been given to me? and do they know how I can use it with wordpress?

From my experience CSV is a datafile that is comma delimited.

You can just import a csv into excel. It's pretty straightforward. Just open it and follow the prompts.

That doesn't sound like what you are trying to do though. Can you give a bit more info?

CSV files are a spreadsheet format from a database table dump, it can be opened in excel. What are you trying to do with it? If you want to import it into wordpress you could do it though the phpmyadmin backend of mysql if you have cpanel access. PM me if you need some help.

What I am trying to do is get code that is given to me in csv format, and upload it to my wordpress site.

The site I am getting it from generates it's code via csv, so I dont have to place every image and link manually. But they give me the code that says link with a link to it
Then I get info to put into the csv. I tried cutting and pasting an example but it didnt work.

I was wondering if I just cut and paste that code into an excel document and then just upload it to the wordpress site? I found a csv uploader, but I dont know if I'm suppose to change anything, or write out the entire code that was supplied in excel.
Am I suppose to break up the code they supplied me?

They include what each field is, but does that mean I have to rewrite the entire code column by column in my excel document?

Does that make sense in terms of what I mean? Or did I just confuse you more?

If you can pm me, maybe I can respond with more detail, and maybe cut out a sample of the csv code they provide me? let me know thanks.

I am wondering about this as well . I have an article directory script installed and want to find a way to import hundreds of articles that I scraped with "Get The Article Scrapper".

I don't want to do it one by one.

I'm pretty sure you can tweak your import file (with your scraped articles) to work with this WP plugin: ADPS ZipPoster.

The original sales page of the plugin is here: http://www.gurugazette.com/ZipPoster but you should be able to find a working version on this forum with a simple search.

You just have to upload the zip file with your txt articles in the right folder and the plugin with do the rest. You can even schedule your posts in the future by formatting the txt articles properly, it's so simple it's not even funny... :moony:

I am not sure how that will work with the script Your Article Directory, but I have use the textpressor plugin to do this in WP.

Just saw this guys I read through what you are trying to do and I am confused when you say code what are you referring to? Are you talking about actual php code, or just the post text you are scraping?

I think he meant the csv code for his website.

I on a different not am trying to find a way to take html articles and post them to the articles table on my database.

So, you guys have been extremely helpful, and I do appreciate all the patience and help!

But, my next inquiry is, I want to create a site similar to lobstertube
I want to have a tgp gallery, that links to outside tube sites to show their videos. Does anyone know what kind of script they are using?
I have access to tube sites csv codes, but I do not know how to code em properly, or how to upload em. I checked trade expert, that one allows you to only trade traffic, is there a script that allows you to use your csv code to upload it to the site? or a script that lets your breakdown the field categories and allows you to dump your code in and have it to the work?

Not that I'm trying to hijack this thread, but how do you mass format the articles for ZipPoster, when you have like thousands of them and each have a title on a different line?
