Its mostly made up bs, in reality the majority of work LE does with cyber involves getting subpoenas to ISPs,Hosting companies etc.

Do you think other CSI were acurate?
Some of the forensic test they do takes week to get the reports, but in CSI its in minutes and hours..

I quit watching after the first epsiode when the Russian(?) mafia group was using birthdates as a password and tattoo it on themselves to remember it.
There's a big difference between making things happen faster to keep it entertaining and completely making up nonsense to solve the case. I can't stand the other CSI shows but I like to assume the tests they run etc do actually exist and work, more or less, the way they say they do. I probably shouldn't.
But in this, they had a remote accessed nanny cam projecting the voices, in separate languages, of people in an online auction. Somehow, I'm thinking that wouldn't happen.

I liked the way it assumed people can't remember that many numbers, despite it literally being five dates, and didn't think they could have just noted it down somewhere secure, or remembered a part of the sequence each, or any of the myriad other options than tattooing it on your body.

Also why did they have to use the old Russian(Eastern Europe in General) as the bad guys cliche. Why not put at least a few minutes into writing and make it Canadian Mafia or some country that isn't overplayed when it comes to villians in stories.

Not watched it but heard lots of bad things... I was told by a watchguard security evangelist that the most accurate portrayals of hacking on TV at the moment are in Mr Robot and House of Cards.
I actually enjoyed Mr Robot but the first episode had these exchanges in:
random pleb: "This is the worst ddos attack I've ever seen"
l33t h4x0r: "have you tried reconfiguring the DNS?!!"
Yes, reconfigure the DNS. You also might want to try using the keyboard to type in commands.
random pleb: "what's a rootkit?"
techie guy: "It's like a serial rapist with a really big dick".
Super analogy holds up superbly there.
