This is a question for experienced marketers.

How important is it to have knowledge of basic/intermediate Computer Science, coding, and networking?

I feel like understanding more of the code/network habits and generally how computers work does make you a better marketer, but by how much and how exactly?

It is very important to know the basics. You can find your way around easier if you have some basic skills and you can also begin improving your tools and processes.

Thanks for the answer.

Can anyone elaborate on their experience?

When you are just starting out, you basically have a small budget unless you are lucky and you are coming from a Papi / Mami family aka your parents are rich :D

So you are on a tight budget and you want to make a good landing page, by knowing your way around HTML, CSS, and something like WordPress you can create what you want on your own.

So when starting out on a tight budget you need to try and do everything yourself as you cannot afford to outsource it to other freelancers.

It doesn't necessarily make you a better marketer but it allows you to work within your budget.

I am not a big marketer but someone who's on the cs/programming side.
Imo, knowing the Basic stuff always helps.

Since you are going to be dealing with websites most of the time. You should atleast understand how the internet works at a basic level. What DNS is, what webservers are, how a browser and websites work, what happens when you type google.com in your browser and hit enter, what are IP addresses, what is proxy etc things along those lines.

As @sussocial said knowing html/css helps a ton because when you are starting out you need to do stuff yourself and with basic web design skills you can make things like landing pages easily. And making minor changes to say your WordPress themes also becomes convenient.

You don't need to dive deep into like theoretical and fundamental cs stuff like algoithms and data structures and PL theory stuff but a basic knowledge of computer networking and the internet helps a lot.
