cryptocurrency value increasing? or decreasing?

i see quite a few cryptos values increase in terms of USD, but decrease in terms of BTC.

are these cryptos gaining or losing value?

if there is such divergence, obviously they dont have to be traded using BTC. if so, i can buy them using bitcoins, and sell for USD? wouldnt that be too easy a way to profit?

You are seeing that because the value of Bitcoin is rising on that specific moment against the dollar.
The kind of arbitrage you are talking about is very well possible.
But it's nearly inpossible to do manually.
You would need a bot to monitor these currencies for price changes and then
buy and sell accordingly.
