Even if you go to any bank and open an account they would use their webcam attached in their computer to take a picture of you. That’s basically what KYC is.

I think you are just getting limited service account, which if you want to fully unlock the service then you will need to perform KYC

It is commonly known that certain banks / card issuers decline payments for crypto exchanges, gambling websites, etc and if so, they mention it in their T&Cs. Yes, their T&Cs will be of a trillion words, but if so, it would surely be mentioned in their T&Cs.
And one can use Binance P2P to buy and even sell crypto. It works as smooth as butter, and has an escrow too.
So, you can buy crypto (BTC, USDT) using P2P in Binance and pay with a local bank transfer.
No need for a card. I have done everything that is possible to do in Binance and yet I do not have a card linked in my Binance account. (Ofcourse my KYC is done for my Binance account).

You wanted to convert some BTC to USDT. No need for any ETH for that. There is a "Convert" option in Binance for converting one crypto to another with just 1 click. And there are no fees for using Binance Convert.
Even I was once new to crypto, Binance, etc. All I can say is that I never faced any challenges, thanks to the fact that Google dot com exists. Some patience and a few simple Google searches, would have saved you from all the agony that you faced.
