Looking for some insight/validation. I subscribed to a decent ranking niche directory website that only lists businesses who offer that specific service. They're asking to insert a backlink on my site that leads to my listing and claim it will have a drastic impact on my website rankings if I don't, which smells like BS.
Other than giving them a free backlink, is there actually that much an important gain on my side to do this? I'm not too familiar with the impact of crosslinks.
