Hello everyone, I used to share the same content on Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and TikTok. However, I've recently realised that each platform favours slightly distinct captions and forms. Does anyone still effectively cross-post, or are you now creating content specifically for each platform?

Cross-posting can save time, but creating platform-specific content usually performs better, since each platform’s audience, algorithm, and preferred format differ slightly, so tailoring captions, style, and hooks for each channel often drives higher engagement.

Yes many agencies tell their models to cross post since it allows for more exposure. You get more reach when you cross post.

Your question is very good and is also a common concern of many short content creators today. I will answer based on my experience in 2025:

Cross-posting still works, but tweaking captions, aspect ratios, and hooks for each platform’s algorithm gives far better results than just reusing the same video everywhere.

Most creators now adapt a single core video into platform specific versions since customizing tone, length and hooks for each audience delivers stronger reach and retention

it still works, grow it and make more money
create more social media accounts

While text and image content can be easily repurposed across different social media platforms, video content requires tailored adjustments to align with the specific characteristics of each platform's niche audience

I used to cross-post too, but now I tweak for each platform. TikTok prefers punchy, casual captions; Reels likes clear hooks; Shorts often need text overlays. Small tweaks make a big difference in reach and engagement.

I still cross-post, but I adjust the captions for each platform. The video stays the same, just the wording changes a bit. It keeps things efficient and helps each post perform better.

I’ve noticed the same thing. The algorithms on each platform seem to respond differently to caption style and formatting. I still cross-post, but I usually make small adjustments for each platform—things like caption length, hashtags, and pacing. It saves time while still keeping the content optimized.
Curious to hear how others are handling it too.

I have been thinking about this as well. I used to post the same clips everywhere but the results have become unpredictable lately so I am glad you asked this question.
