Hey guys, just wanted a second opinion on my prices before I mass mailed them!

    $2300 - £1500
    CMS (Wordpress)
    Up to 5 Pages

    $2900 - £2500
    CMS (Wordpress)
    Up to 10 Pages
    Responsive Design
    Facebook/Twitter Design

    $7800 - £5000
    CMS (Wordpress/Magento/WooCommerce)
    Can be eCommerce
    Responsive Design
    Unlimited Pages
    Facebook/Twitter Design

What do you guys think? Trying to use the red herring technique here, so most will go for the first option, but not making it silly if someone goes for the high end.

Nice prices, but will you do design from scratch or you will just use Premium Wordpress Themes???

Will you direct mail or just mass email them???

I presume you are mailing out examples of your work and offering a special introductory discount valid until 30th September. Consultation free etc ?

If you have targeted and personalised leads then I don't think the pricing structure is too far out. Most business's receive €300 website deal leaflets all the time. Your portfolio and professionalism should Mark you out as being different.

I don't think the prices are too high.

Just because I am capable of putting a wordpress them up on my hosting and having a decent looking site ready in two hours doesn't mean the world is capable of that.

Depends on what the op is selling

In the uk or Ireland a starter website is £200-£399. That's for a basic theme with logo very basic customisation, maybe set up one email address.

For a decent site the average quote is £2000-£3000

So thats buying a good theme or getting a custom £50-£200

Custom logo, graphics, icons, tabs and quality photos £200-£400

Properly customising a theme and giving a full consultancy to your clients ie showing them the theme in beta, then listening to the changes they want made and carrying them out. Going back to make more changes a week later. Offering them tech support for a few months. Setting up an email client for the whole company and maybe dropping into the office to do a presentation or make sure everything is as it should be .

That's the sort of service £2000-£3000 gets and that's still cheap.

Work for peanuts and be a monkey all your life.

OP the subject is as much a mindset issue...

Example if you touting those prices in HK you would be walking tall and taking orders...

Then jump on a plane land in Bangkok and offer the same deal - no takers...

OP you have set a price stick to it you have to eat not starve!

Your differentiator will be be your strongest asset stick to your guns...

Are you buying themes from themeforest and selling or are you starting from scratch?

If you're just using premade themes , that's a little high but hey I'm all for high markups.

If you're coding from scratch then that's a good price!

give out a discount for the packages and throw in some "freebies" + a nice call to action ...

freebies like 1 year of free hosting ,which is ~ 50$ or just buy a re-seller account with your first payment and you're good to go + brings in other business opportunities because in a year they're gonna have to renew their hosting subs, could land you a lot more clients ...

as duffers said nothings stands out more than a limited time frame and i think you should point out to them that their competition HAS ALREADY PAID FOR SUCH SERVICES AND ARE GETTING GREAT RESULTS! Have fun offline-ing :)

£1500 is a lot for five pages. My tech unsavy friend got done for £400 for a similar site which was a customized premium Wordpress theme with some custom graphic and video work. Probably took a couple of hours for the guy to sort the whole lot. So it really depends on what you are offering.

The main problem is the time consultation takes, along with a meeting half way through the site build, and then one to finalize everything. This takes 3 afternoons of time at least. Time must be paid for!

Why three in person meetings? I would personally do the second other the phone or through email, people won't expect you to hold their hand the whole way through, plus two meetings before things are finalized leave you vulnerable to wasting quite a bit of time with people who aren't serious. Last meeting to finalize everything and tie someone down is a good idea.

Unfortunately every client I have had so far expects me to do more than hold then hand.

I have realized I need to find better paying clients, but also better quality clients in general.
