(opinions are my own) Pt. 1
When I started my journey in this wild world of black hat I didn't realize all I was doing wrong.... but fear not! I am here to tell you allllll about (some) my failures so you newbies don't have to repeat them!
I began by doing Instagram automation because an old business partner of mine showed me a bot called followliker... I do NOT recommend using it. Anyways we would go around to people we knew or met online who were "easy sells" and try and get them on for $25, $50, or $100 a month and at the time we thought that was great...boy were we wrong. Being the lowest price for an amazing product or service should NEVER be the goal, it downplays you, your credibility, and tolerance of the client meaning they will respect you LESS! All that was good only because it let me practice and get good at the actual service (fill in the blank for whatever it is you do.)
Here is where things turned around for me....
First, I parted ways with my partner, got a SOLID automation software, did a TON of reading and became an expert (for the time), and turned myself into an actual business (i.e. I showed up to "work," made business cards, a website, and LEARNED the part.)
I started going to EVERY networking event I could and had a pitch ready to go as soon as the first person asked, "so what do you do...?" Networking events are great because everyone there wants a way to sell their service/product and I could help them! That being said, KNOW the problem your audience has and have a quick pitch on how to solve it for them! That got me a TON of free lunch meetings with decision makers...
Second, I packaged myself/services in a way that was appealing and didn't sound like I was some internet guy with a computer who could help your account "get more followers and stuff." Bottom line is MARKETING yourself, you have to be THE expert, you have to speak with confidence that you and your company can produce results with a proven track record. GET SOME INFRASTRUCTURE! Create a pitch deck for each potential client, this will go a LONG way. Have a way to invoice, get an actual email domain, don't be sketchy looking! The more professional you are, the more you can charge. With this we went from making $25-$100 per account to $400-$1,300 per account per month.
Takeaways:
1. Know your audiences' problem and how YOU can fix it like NOBODY else
2. NETWORK! You'll find opportunity where you least expect it, always say YES to an opportunity to network!
3. Brush your hair! What I mean is look good, professional, have infrastructure, and act your WORTH
These are just some basics, I can post part 2 soon!
