I bought last year black friday a license for IP Vanish for ~$30/year and it clearly kicks the ass of hide my ass paradoxically. I will renew it this year if they have the same pricing.

Not sure if you would like a free trial VPN, but ProtonVPN has a decent free model with good speed and a few servers that you can select.
Also, iVPN offers a free trial and both of them are really focused on privacy and not so commercially oriented like the big players in the field.
