I was just in the middle of installing a script and it was telling me to create a new user, and that got me thinking...

Just wondering, every time I install a script, they always say to create a new db user. I did that when I first started installing scripts, but have been just using 1 user for a while now and figured it was a waste of time to keep creating more db users.

Am I right in thinking that, or will there be some negative drawback later down the line?

    Thanks,

same user could get a little messy if you install a lot of scripts into the same db. but you can just make prefixes, so all in all nothing to worry.

only if someone crack your password they got all your database instead of just that certain user.

i always use a new user for each table, dunno what would happen if you used the same user.

what i'd like to know is how to save the table files so that i can move it to another host?
i'd hate to have to program in all that data a second time.

if any 2 of those scripts end up using a table with the same name or possibly similar functions, that's when problems would begin

i would always use a seperate database for each script you use... if your host doesnt supply with you a good amount of databases, i would possibly look elsewhere for a different host...

or better still get yourself your own vps if your doing lots of sites and testing out lots of scripts :)

Not a different database, a different username... or not. I've created different databases for all of my projects, I've just been using 1 username for many of them.

sorry i misinterpreted what you said i had like a billion things going on, i use separate databases but will often use a common username for one particular project

probably not good idea to use the same username and password for ALL your databases for obvious security reasons...
