Creating mini sites within a website

For example, if my website is in Motorcyle niche and I added 50 articles on different products related to motorcycles.

5 pages are getting max traffic each with independent KWs.

Would it be a good idea if add more Articles related to inner KW niches of these articles and link these new articles with the main article.

Like if Best Motorcycle tires is ranking articles, I can add 5 articles related to motorcyle tires like
1. Cheap Motorcyle tires
2. Motorcyle tires for wet weather
3. How to check pressure of your motorcyle tire
4. Top Honda Motorcycle tires
5...


As each a potential to get traffic on its own and doesnot canabalize the main articles, how should they be linked?

I don't see how this is any different from having a blog with different blog posts. Just link them as if they were related blog posts, problem solved.

You have two ways to do it. Blog categories or sub domains.

Yes it would be totally okay to add more articles related to the niches of other articles and then interlink them. This will increase the content on your site.

This is the basic idea behind silos. What you call minisite is a silo.

So, once a article ranks on first and second page, does adding a silo to that article increases chances of ranking new articles as well as the main article?

There are a lot of PR sculpting techniques. I don't know what you mean about adding a silo to an article, but you're probably onto the right idea.

So in the simplest sense, one could create a niche blog using wordpress, and use the blog section to post mainly general content on the subject (perhaps automatically via RSS), while using the page section to post more specific articles (to pre-sell particular products) in silo format per product. Then build authority to both sides of it with quality pre-sell articles, and quality backlinks to both the pages and to the blog.

In effect, this builds an authority site up that is composed of menu sections of content that otherwise would have been in a microsite. This structure would avoid the issue of creating an overly thin site with limited or no authority.
