Creating a site with forum

Hi,

Just wondering what is best forum software out there at the moment. I was using Vbulletin a few years back but just noticed it was $300 for it which is ridiculous price.

Any good alternatives or better options?

Personally i prefer vbulletin, and its very widely used.. There are nulled copies all over the web tbh if you didnt want to buy a license..

Free alternatives include phpbb, invisionpower, yabbforum, mybb etc..

Yes.. you will get into some trouble unless they are nulled

I have VB nulled its pretty much the same thing you will just need a host that allows a nulled script

But if you don't want to I would say use mybb

I highly recommend checking out XenForo.

One of the developers of XenForo, Kier Darby originally served as a lead developer for the community platform vBulletin. The original owner of the software, Jelsoft, was acquired by the American new media company Internet Brands in 2007. Disagreements between the lead developers and the new management over matters involving the next big release of vBulletin, version 4.0 (including a rejection of their desire to make 4.0 a complete rewrite of the platform as opposed to Internet Brands preferring the use of agile development) led most of the original vBulletin developers to step down from employment at Internet Brands in 2009.

vBulletin for the win. It's exceptional. phpBB is a major no no. Security issues are frightening on open source forum scripts.

Haven't been into forums for quite a while now but I think that the best out there is vBulletin.

If you're looking for something that's free, loads fast and is highly stable SMF is your best but.

and if you want to go free with lots of features phpbb is your best bet. I think that out of the box phpbb is as fast as any platform but people tend to install a lot of hacks as they call them onto it so it tends to get clogged down.

For me the best forum software is the VBulletin. As an alternative I would have used the SMF Simple Machine Forum software.

I use myBB for all my forum projects. It's free, fairly customizable, has a highly interactive support team and has a huge number of people dedicated to making plugins for them. It really depends on what you want to do for your forum, but it might be worth a try. Even using some of the premium plugins it never costs me more than $15-20 to get one set up.

Disclaimer- it has been a long time since I've even looked at another forum software, so I can't make a comparison from one platform to another.

I'm using XenForo and I absolutely love it . It's nice and web 2.0, great looks, nice themes, functional plugins. I believe it's something like $140.
