    hi,

i've recently been looking into creating a blog network using wordpress.com and piggy-backing off their PR9 page rank, but then i thought the links would look better coming from wordpress being installed on my hosting with its own .com address.

would i be better off sticking with wordpress or installing wordpress on a registered .com and working on building its own PR?

i have reseller hosting with the ability to host unlimited websites.

If you have the possibility to create your own mini network (buy different domains, host them on unique IP's) then this is better option because you don't risk that these sites that you are building will be closed.

With less money you can use web 2.0 properties as your buffer sites (as a bonus these are trusted sites from the beginning).

    Cheers

If you could, I would recommend using your own domain.

the one downside of hosting them myself is they'd all have the same IP as opposed to the wordpress.com websites which have all been created on seporate days (increasing the chance of being hosted on a different IP).

just curious if people think it's worth sticking with the name.wordpress.com address as opposed to having wordpress installed on name.com and if the PR of name.wordpress.com is benefitted from being hosted on wordpress.com or if it's PR is built the same way as any other website?

It's not really a blog network if it's on Wordpress.com. What you've then created is a bunch of Temporary 2.0 assets, which you have n o real control over. Good quality links, but no real security long term.

And for it to be effective as a linking network, it'll need to be multi C Class IP, and preferably multi A & B class too. Also different hosts and registrars.

Use your own domains IF money is not a problem, or else use as many blogging platforms and other web 2.0 sites that you can find.
