hey seo sientists, here is the one golden seo rule: When a link doesn't bring in at least 10 real unique visitors, searchengines consider it a deadlink and ignore it. Create high traffic links and search engines push your site up.

Unless you're talking SERPs here, there's no way for a search engine to know who's clicking through backlinks or when. And 10 links over what period of time?

This is pure nonsense.
 
If you can prove this, there are many ways to artificialize this....

Never heard about Google Analytics? It is the most widely used website statistics service.
That is not the only source for traffic information of backlinks. They can check the browserhistoy of their searchengine users, they get Information from their Webmaster Tools or maybe even Adsense. Google knows everything.

P.S. I already told you to forget about the number.
 
Andy is right.

searchengines increasingly focus on traffic. Especially bing does this. And don't underestimate bing. Those users it drives to your site are willing to buy stuff online.
 
This is how myths are started and spread. Someone comes up with a theory without any proof and claims it as a fact. Then people who have never tested it begin to regurgitate it.
 
I have to disagree with the OP, goggle cannot possibly track every single click on the internet.

They don't have to track every single click on the internet.

They do it by sampling and inductive reasoning.

Alexa for example does it the same way. Only few people on the internet use their toolbar. Alexa uses this data and makes an estimation for all internet users.

Also keep in mind that google has 1000 times more information than Alexa.

Op's theory is way off. Please don't mislead newbies and spread this information as a fact. At least let people know that it's just a theory.

The most powerful links I have get 0 traffic and they give the biggest boost to my serp rankings.

On the other hand, I have completely white hat sites that get real traffic links from other bloggers and this site is so hard to rank, even with 1000's of words of unique sharable content. I do not do any regular link building on this site. Everything is relationship building. So if this theory was true, I should be seeing massive rankings but it's nothing compared to my other sites.

I understand there might be some seo benefits of a link that also sends traffic (possible due to other factors), but other than that, this statement you made is complete bs.
 
That would be impossible. The only way that Google would be able to track it is if the traffic was either coming from search or it the website had google analytics installed.

However, using google analytics or webmaster tools is a huge mistake to begin with.
