I am soon to launch an alcoholic drink aimed at home drinking and parties. It is a fun social product that is shared between a group of friends. In the UK there is a trend towards 'loading up' which is basically meeting at a friends house and drinking spirits before going clubbing. This product is aimed at this market as well as the BBQ party market.

I don't want to mention the product here since we are only three weeks before seeing a major retail buyer and will be the first to market with this new product for the UK. (It already exists in the US and Australia)

What I would like to do is generate some interest in the product prior to its launch and since it is a social product I can think of no better way than to use a social platform to promote it. Also if I can demonstrate that the product has followers on social networks such as FB it is going to be easier to sell to the retailer.

Unfortunately I have not used social networking as a platform before - I am more an SEO person.

So the questions are....

How would you go about achieving this?
What networks should I focus on?
What would be a good way to kickstart the interest and get followers? Should I be looking at using scripts/automation tools?
Or is this something I should be outsourcing?
Is it possible to achieve this in 3 weeks?

Looking forward to your comments...:D

Hope you don't mind but I needed to give this thread a little bump...:buttkick:

Facebook Fan page and Twitter campaign combined with contests and promos. There are no magic bullets and you know how to drive an SEO campaign for SERPs.

True..or better yet make people do the Facebook and Twitter campaign for you with product I mentioned above. It will certainly help you achieve buzz and running your contest (as the name suggest ;) )

Within 3 weeks? doable. As long as you can drive initial traffic to start the snow ball rolling that is + you will need a prize or two for the contest (of course you can give discount coupon for your product..after all who wouldn't love to get discount on booze, right? :D )

No. I'm not affiliated with that product.

A series of videos on youtube that tell a story. If you can get a local celebrity (and young), the videos might get faster attention.

If this is a "brand" and they smell even a whiff of black hat or spam they will drop you and your agency on the spot. Also you'll get yourself into big legal problems - just a friendly warning to be careful about methods and even suppliers here for major brands.

Good luck!

I would have said FB invites and build a viral fan page but that bit the dirt a few weeks ago :(

I own the brand so I want to keep it as white hat as possible! ;)

I will Help for a lifetime supply.

also this goes on in the states aswell. Its called "Pre Gaming"
Most people will "pre game" with a four loko or a forty oz before going to the bar

Four Loko is banned in most states now. Kids dying from that shit.

I can't believe "Pre Gaming" is NOW a trend in the UK lol. I don't remember not pre-gaming here in the states. (sorry for the double negative)

Good luck Mr. Twister.

will contest burner make me go from 0 to 100,000 subscribers using nothing but the software alone?
is this a joke?

to the OP, if you want some cheap user generated content, i suggest fiverr. sponsoredreviews type sites also can get you backlinks on different c blocks, and if you pay enough look authentic.

theres no software or magic thats gonna get buzz going around a product/brand. PR companies fail all the time with millions. i think it also comes down to figuring out the right promo for the market. youve identified a target, but how do they get news or trends? do they have any influencers? how price sensitive are they?

I dont know why u ask if im joking or not. Ive never been more serious. Im strictly going by the salespage hype that ive read.

Take a look at Twiends dot com to gain a load of twitter followers and facebook fan page likers

Basically you add friends or like facebook pages and in return you receive followers

The followers seem to be a load of junk as they are all people doing exactly the same thing as you, but it is the easiest way to gain followers and fans at the moment as far as i am aware and it is free
